Sound too good to be true? Folyo's Referral Newsletter will help you fill the gaps in your design agency’s pipeline in just a few minutes each week. On this page we'll walk through how.
You get exclusive design gigs and RFPs sent to you each week so you can find the work your company was meant to do in less time.
Hi! My name is Robert Williams and I run Folyo.
Each week my team and I prepare a private referral newsletter for small design shops that helps them find the work they were meant to do.
We’ve sent this newsletter since 2013 and it's packed with hand-curated projects, personal intros, RFPs, contracts, and more ... that helps thousands of design shop owners add revenue each year.
It's a private community and we only open registration 2 times a year, but right now you can sign up and get instant access at the bottom of this page.
We've gone through dry spells before. We know how bad it can be.
Each day the stress mounts. The importance of every new opportunity balloons and you go into every meeting thinking the same thing: “I need this job.”
You’re desperate and clients can smell it from a mile away. Sometimes it last weeks or months.
But no matter how painful it is, you can turn dry spells into a positive by accepting reality, and making the decision to stop them forever.
A few years ago I surveyed 500+ agency owners and asked two questions:
“What do you do when you run out of work?” and “How much money do you make?”
Their answers were fascinating.
Shops who actively reached out to potential clients when they ran out of work made almost 2.5x more than those who sat and waited. Yet, only a tiny fraction (10%) actually do it!
That’s why if you're an agency owner, emailing potential clients should be your #1 priority.
Not only is it effective, but it gives you back control over your business growth.
Why wait until you’re in a dry spell? Imagine emailing a warm lead every week no matter what. How much more would you make? Double? Triple?
I know what you’re saying: “Robert, I’m already overloaded with work, I simply don’t have time to find clients to pitch, let alone waste my time cold emailing them only to never hear back.”
I get it.
We're all busy. Even if you dilligently emailed clients every day for weeks, eventually you'd get busy again. You might say you'll: “pick things back up once it all calms down again.” But if you're honest you know it’s a lie.
It never calms down. One second you're juggling multiple gigs and the next you're scrambling to find work. One client pulls the rug from underneath you and suddenly another does too.
Accept it. That’s just the business you’re in.
The REAL mistake is not doing anything to prepare NOW.
The question is what? I don’t recommend prospecting yourself because it's a total time-suck. And cold emailing companies you know nothing about is even less effective.
But you still need to find a fast way to find new opportunities regularly. Leads that are pre-vetted and looking to hire a agency like yours RIGHT NOW.
Having that is a totally different position to be in.
And the truth is these opportunities are out there …
As a high-value agency owner you lose over $2,000+ in billable hours when you look for new work yourself.
But what are the alternatives?
Don’t you wish another option existed?
What if you could wake up every week and have your lead gen done for you so you could just open your inbox and reply to pre-vetted clients that are eager to find someone like you right now?
What if you could instantly 10x your network of clients without having to lift a finger, much less spend years building it up from scratch?
What if you could get access to hundreds of exclusive opportunities that almost no other design studios in your space had access to?
Imagine joining an exclusive group of top-performing agency owners that share hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of client work with one another each year.
Imagine skipping years and years of lead gen, testing different marketing methods, and just getting a steady stream of clients coming to you from day one.
Imagine if your inbox was full of remote, high-paying prospects that urgently needed an agency like yours right now.
Imagine if you had all this while getting back 40-60 hours per month. What could you do with that time? What areas of your business could you invest in? Who could you spend more time with?
You'd be able to keep your pipeline burning bright whether you happened to have time to do marketing this week or not.
And best of all, each opportunity would be authentic and come from a community of people you know and trust.
You’d no longer have to bug your network for work. You’d simply wake up and contact one of the leads in your inbox. Someone who’s already looking to hire someone like you.
Here’s what you get when you sign up:
And that's just a sample of the benefits packed into this service.
I do need to give you a WARNING, though.
You're open to admitting that sitting and waiting for work or posting on social media isn’t the best use of your time if you want to land better clients.
You want to stop trying random advice you see online and instead focus on EXECUTING by writing to more great client opportunities.
You're focused on the long term — and you understand there will always be ups-and-downs, but that you can make HUGE gains by taking the right steps.
You've tried the “conventional advice” like creating a portfolio, trolling upwork, posting on dribbble, and they haven't worked.
You've gotten as far as you can on your own, but you know you need more opportunities — and you're open to getting an extra push to find better clients.
We never send a lead just to send it. The exact number depends on how many great clients post a project that week, but you can expect a handful of great gigs weekly.
Folyo is great for two types of shops: design and front-end development. If you can produce design or code - at any level - you can make a lot of money from the leads and referrals we send.
This service is designed for folks who are beginners as well as those who’ve been doing client work for a while. In fact, because you’re starting out you have the advantage of not having bad habits engrained into your business.
The last thing we all need is another thing to juggle. Folyo’s Referral Newsletter Community is NOT another online job site you have to manage and force yourself to find extra time for. It's not a band-aid or a workaround.
Our referral newsletter is a focused, at-your-own-pace, transformational community that will show you how to consistently win more work and grow your client network in a few hours per week.
I recommend spending at least 3 hours a week on emailing the referrals for maximum benefit. You can even do it from your phone, or ipad — whatever's easiest for you. 3 hours is my guideline, but because you get access for a full year, you can go faster or slower if you want.
If you're ready, you can get access to a community of hundreds of exclusive opportunities. And from now on, whenever you're in a dry spell, you'll have an ally in the trenches with you.
It varies. Some people land a client in their first month, others take 6+ months before it pays off, however, 99% of people who reply to these leads consistently see results.
We pack Folyo’s Referral Newsletter with a ton of great leads and I want to make sure that you not only do you get a taste of what it’s like – I want to give you a full 30 days to let it marinate, and integrate it into your daily life, and make sure this is really working for you.
Try the newsletter for a full 30 days. That’s enough time to see what we have to offer and then decide. If you don’t LOVE it, I insist you get 100% of your money back. I’ll even eat the credit-card processing fees.
It’s simple: Join the community and try it for yourself. If the dozens of leads and community don’t help you expand your client network in 30 days, I want you to email me. Show me you contacted at least 15 leads, and I’ll give you all your money back.
This guarantee lasts 30 days, which means you’ll get 50+ leads. You can actually land a client and then decide if it’s right for you.
“I like to focus on projects that are particularly interesting to me, and fit my skill set well so I was reluctant to sign up at first.
But amongst the work I scored from the newsletter last year were two projects that have now blossomed into amazing client relationships and tens of thousands of dollars… with no end in sight. I was really on the fence about Folyo (and freelancing in general), but I’ve gotten over my imposter-syndrome at this point and realize I can compete and score some of these great leads.
I can honestly say that being a customer of yours for the past year-ish has made me a much smarter (and better) freelancer. I’m crushing it – well into 6 figures in revenues this year, and exceeding my “projections” by like 50% (absurd!). I haven’t been doing this that long, but I’m very confident in my abilities as a businessman, client relationship manager (and of course, designer).

“Folyo did all the legwork.
Great job filtering down to just the people who really met the detailed requirements. The icing on the cake was the interview recordings – which made it a really efficient process for us.”
– Theresa Neil, Founder, Guidea
“It’s helped us calm any stress and fears, and approach our business calmly.”
– Joey Kirk, Founder, Made by Munsters
“You sign up and stuff just comes in. It’s a perfect way to get your feet wet.”
– Trevor Wernisch, Freelancer
“Robert presented me with several really good options that helped me curate and understand who was best for my project.”
– Mike Julian, CEO, The Duckbill Group
“For the first time in my career, I feel like I’m doing the right type of work.”
– Kevin Chang, Freelancer
“It’s is almost more like getting projects via word of mouth rather than applying to random jobs.”
– Jes Albro, Freelancer
“The job I landed on Folyo turned into ongoing design and development that I am still working on today.”
– Jean Massad, Freelancer
“Navigating the hiring process is hard. I’m not an expert in design. But Folyo helped guide me on what to focus on.”
– Max Leiserson, Principal, Leiserson Research Group

Since starting Folyo’s referral newsletter we’ve seen copycat services come and go. These look-a-like services use automated scraping tools to find leads. I don’t believe in that. Only a real, experienced, designer knows what a great lead looks like. Not some crappy script.
That’s why while the other services continue to disappear, Folyo’s value will only continue to increase. That’s one reason we want to be more selective about who we let into the community moving forward. Make no mistake right now is the absolute best time to join. The price will only increase, and the window to join is getting smaller. Missing out on signing up now literally means thousands lost on the cost alone.
Secondly, it’s a common misconception that dry spells are a part of consulting. The truth is they happen because you sit and wait. Failing to line up work during flush times (not just during dry spells), is the real reason you run into feast or famine cycles. Just because you have work now, you’re short on time, or you have some other excuse, you shouldn’t put your hands up and stop all sales activity.
See like you, I’ve been through dry spells. And I know there are a ton of businesses out there who will benefit from working with me. That’s why I’ve put myself in front of you right now, and I believe it’s your turn to do the same for businesses you can help every day. Folyo will help you do that.
Members say that the leads I send reply at a higher rate than outreach they’ve done in the past.
But they also have an unfair advantage. Marketing, portfolios, job boards and prospecting no longer suck up all their billable time, so they’re better at contacting leads because they no longer teeter-totter between work overload and an empty checking account.
Some have landed huge projects, or even full-time remote dream clients from Folyo’s emails. All have saved the most precious thing of all; time.
